Education

How can design help balance the contemporary focus on technology, as a primary educational tool, with the pressing need to re-engage – both physically and psychologically – with the natural environment?

This is the question we try and answer through our designs for educational buildings, where we always develop a variety of different solutions for the children to engage with nature, given the sense of well-being that is generated from having visual access to trees and greenery at all times.

This is a phenomenon of designing with tree views that has been the subject of research in health care and it has been termed ‘Biophilic Design’, which has been demonstrated to improve wellbeing and attention.
