For the London Design Festival DSDHA presents a model of the iconic Albert Memorial revealing the monument's hidden undercroft: a vast vaulted structure that is currently inaccessible – and largely unknown – to most. Through the use of digital modelling and fabrication techniques, the Memorial’s form has been manipulated. This distortion hints at the ability of digital technologies to enhance urban experience, allowing access (either physical, virtual or both) to underused spaces, which could be adapted to accommodate cultural uses, including much needed rehearsal space and artists’ studios in the city centre.
